Fund Hooderton: A Story About Land, Family, and Who Gets to Keep It

hooderton-lady-boone-portrait.png

Paper Violence & Hooderton is Ballersworld's dual-media project fighting systemic land dispossession in the Lowcountry — a prestige documentary, a vertical micro-drama, and a youth workforce lab, all in one.

The three parts

1. Paper Violence (Documentary, 16:9): An investigative documentary on the 160-year legal continuum of land dispossession, anchored by historian James Pinckney and probate judicial experts, on how tax codes and partition laws have been used to take heirs' property.

2. Hooderton (Drama, 10 episodes, vertical for TikTok/Reels): A micro-drama following the Hooderton family across generations — from Silas buying land at atax auction in 1867, to a present-day fight over heirs' property, a partition sale threat, and a forged deed — dramatizing the exact legal loopholes used to seize family land.

3. S.T.E.A.M. Lab (Workforce): Local youth embedded on-set alongside professional crews, with training and stipends for cinema lighting, field audio, and digital archival preservation of historic deeds.
